Send your little lion cubs to school and they return home sick.
You can almost see the cloud of germs trailing behind them.
What do we expect, though, from the Petri Dish we call a classroom? Every child in the classroom has been taught different hygiene practices by their family unit.
Some are taught adequately, others are taught poorly.
Some haven’t been taught hygiene at all, and these are the ones licking the tables and chairs, sneezing in their elbows but never washing their elbows, and spitting in the open mouth of anyone who yawns. Then, of course, laughing hysterically about it, like a horde of unsanitary hyenas. These are they/them who can tell you every gang sign, but can’t name two soap brands.
In one way or another, your child comes in contact with the less-hygienic crowd, and, similar to joining a gang, brings home something that could kill your whole family.
Possibly this is why some families resort to Home School. Sure, the worry of having Home School-indoctrinated children is of the children not understanding why society does what it does. The schooled-at-home child could be limited in social situations. Or so we think.
It’s also possible for the home-schooled child to have a better grasp of what not to do in certain situations, such as NOT licking public surfaces.
And if that Home School child roars during a yawn, it may be socially awkward. It may make others laugh at the “weird kid”. It may gain him or her a nickname. Best of all though, it will probably prevent anyone from spitting in there, because they’ll be too busy laughing to be able to make a spit.
This is how the weirdest ones can become the Kings and Queens of the Pathogen Jungle: by forestalling germ contact. Similar to how hyenas will only take meat when the lions aren’t looking.
